Using Track Structure Theory to Predict Proton and Heavy-Ion Cross Sections

This article uses mymargin a track structure theory (TST) model for the calculation of proton single event upsets (SEU) cross sections from heavy-ion data. The model is evaluated using data in the published literature. The model shows good agreement in calculating proton cross sections. Additionally, with appropriate proton data, the approach can also be used for calculation of heavy-ion cross sections from proton SEU data. The good agreement in calculating both the heavy-ion and proton cross sections provides validation of the model.
