Developing Highly Effective Strategy of Oil Production Submersible Electrical Equipment Repair and Operation

Optimizing and managing life cycles of submersible electrical equipment (SEE) in oil production requires a comprehensive approach to maintenance and repairs (MR) based on the development of a more advanced strategy of repair cycles. It is stated that MR strategies common in the oil production industry do not fully ensure the operation efficiency. Thus, there is an increase in premature equipment failures, a reduction in time between overhauls and, as a result, losses for oil companies. The advantages and disadvantages of approaches to SEE operation are evaluated using the running time and the actual equipment condition during planning, implementation of MR, as well as the feasibility of carrying out the two above side by side. It is proposed to use statistical models to make a reasoned decision on determining the scope and period of MR, forecasting the limit conditions of sets in general and for specific SEE electrical installations. For a given running time, it is possible to establish key patterns of emerging defects and the mean time between failures of single elements, as well as the whole fleet of equipment of an oil production enterprises. The results obtained can serve as a rationale for a set of recommendations to improve the efficiency of operation and to optimize the life cycle management of SEE in oil production.
