Abstract:
To generate electricity, various kinds of generators are used – electrical machines for converting mechanical energy of rotation into the electrical power. There are two main ways to create excitation flux: placing an excitation winding on rotor or using permanent magnets. Both options have their drawbacks, which limits their scope in industry. The authors of this article proposed a new innovative generator design that does not have brushes and windings on the rotor, which increases its reliability and duration of periods without maintenance. To eliminate the brush and rings, the excitation winding was placed on the stator, as were the output winding coils. In this case, it is not necessary to supply an excitation current to rotor, which is the commutator of an excitation magnetic flux. By changing the current of the excitation winding, we can adjust value of the generator output voltage, and compensate for its change during fluctuations in the rotation speed or load surge. The design of the generator is simple and can be used in wind turbines, as well as in the power grids of autonomous objects. Also, this design is convenient for use of superconductivity.
