Construction of a State Space Model for a Spray Flash Desalination System with Valve Dynamics

In this research, a state space model of a spray flash desalination system for water level control in flash chamber and after condenser is proposed. In the model construction, valve dynamics described by a first order system are taken into account. By virtue of the valve dynamics, the proposed model has valve opening as its input. Not only the mass of the water in flash chamber and after condenser but also the mass flow rates are selected as the states of the model. The behavior of the proposed model was confirmed through numerical simulations of proportional integral control and linear quadratic regulator.
