PV system grid as backup connected management using automatic changeover switch

The energy demand continues to be greater than the energy generated (Ed >Eg). Distributed generation at the consumer level (DGC) is among the best solutions for energy generation stability. In this study, the solar energy system is connected to the national grid at the consumer level with a zero injection to the grid. Grid works as a backup. The system uses an advanced power electronic device called the right lamp automatic changeover switch (RLACS) with a delay time of 6 ms; display devices continue to work during changing. The case study was an electrical shop in the Gitega sector, Kigali city, where a solar energy system of 273 W was built and connected to the national grid. They used 273 W (Pmax) in fourteen hours (14h), and the total daily energy consumption was 3. S22kWh. The results showed that 97.5% of energy from the national grid was saved.
