1.7Gbps visible light transmission over 100m POF employing a 638nm laser and MLP post-equalizer

We propose a post-equalization scheme based on Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) for DFT-Spread OFDM modulation in a communication system with Laser Diodes (LDs) and Plastic Optical Fiber (POF). This approach successfully achieved a data rate of 1.7 Gbit/s 16QAM-DFT-Spread OFDM modulation transmitted over 100 m POF with a bit error rate (BER) below the 7% FEC threshold

. The proposed method improves the Q factor by 1.13 dB compared with the Volterra equalizer's post-equalization results. The experimental results verify that the MLP-based post-equalization scheme has a better nonlinear compensation effect in the application scenario where plastic optical fiber is used as the transmission medium. Finally, we successfully demonstrated a 100-meter POF transmission system using 16QAM-DFT-Spread OFDM modulation format at 1.7Gbps with BER below

by utilizing MLP.
