EMC Study on Aged Shielded Cables

The advancements in ADAS and IVI automotive systems, require reliable high speeds system that are able to transmit multiple gigabits of data. This article describes an analysis of shielding effectiveness degradation of multiple commonly used cables as Coax, SDP, based on lab and in-vehicle testing and its impact on high speed signal transmission systems. The cables were gradually aged and penetrated noise level on the data signal was measured in the lab and in the vehicle using the same aged cables samples. In total 60 cables were analyzed and over 300 tests performed.
