Identification of Safety Factors for UAV Systems in Non-isolated Airspace

UAV and manned aircraft perform tasks together, or UAV perform tasks in formation, which will inevitably bring safety problems in the non-isolated air. In order to improve the safety level of the UAV system when performing tasks, a risk assessment method based on Monte-Carlo is proposed. Firstly, the unsafe causes of the UAV system are analyzed, and then combined with the ground impact model of the UAV system, the influence of air resistance is considered, and the uncertainty of each influencing factor is described separately. Finally, the X8 and Zenith ATX8 are selected. For typical unmanned aerial vehicles, Monte-Carlo simulation algorithm is used for risk assessment in three areas: low-risk area, general-risk area, and high-risk area, and sensitivity analysis of each influencing factor is carried out. The simulation shows that the slip angle of the UAV is the key factor affecting the allowable failure rate of the system; the same type of UAV flying in airspaces with different population densities contributes to the failure rate of the UAV differently. The contribution rate of the fall and glide angle is the largest; different types of UAVs flying in the same population density airspace have obvious differences in the sensitivity to risk, which provides the UAV system to enter the non-isolated airspace to improve the safety level of UAV a feasible idea.
