Simulation Study of Short-Time Interruption Traffic Conditions for Bridge Widening Project

For the uninterrupted bridge widening project, the joint part will have an adverse effect on the modified bridge due to the difference in traffic conditions on both sides of the old and new bridge, which will lead to inconsistent forces on both sides. A rapid-hardening and early-strength concrete was used as a joint material, taking a simple-supported I-girder bridge in an actual project as a study case. The dynamic response analysis of the bridge under vehicle load at 4.5 h after joint casting was analyzed. The maximum tensile stress at the splice joint of the old and new bridge under different vehicle conditions, the maximum deflection difference between the two sides of the span of the splice joint and the vibration speed of the splice joint were obtained respectively. The feasibility of only closing the lane for 4.5 h after the joint casting also been verified.
