Intelligent Insole Design and Gait Analysis Based on Neural Network

With the development of sensing technology, the continuous progress of Artificial Intelligence and Internet-of-Things technology, intelligent medical terminals are becoming more and more popular. Today, with the improving miniaturization and flexibility of sensors, their characteristics are more and more consistent with intelligent medical technology. As a result, the research and applications of wearable medical devices are rapidly emerging. Currently, most of the existing gait analysis systems give judgments based on the displacement of some specific parts of human body, rather than plantar pressure. Based on wireless plantar sensing network, deep neural network, and cloud platform technology, this work proposes and demonstrates a smart shoe insole implanted with flexible feet pressure sensors and a data processing system. The meshless integrated sensing scheme is used to detect the regional distribution of plantar pressure, in order to collect and analyze the gait data of users. The intelligent medical terminal transmits the collected data to the cloud server and uses neural network to accurately analyze the gait of users. Medical personnel and remote observers can give medical advice or care to users based on the analysis. The sensing unit and circuit board of the flexible pressure sensors are all made of flexible materials. The replaceable battery can continuously work for 48 hours and the effective communication range is 65 meters indoor under barrier-free conditions. This intelligent insole design has a promising future and is applicable for a wider range of scenarios, including health monitoring and medical treatment.
