Research on Reverse Pulsating Hydrodynamic Deep Drawing Based on Numerical Simulation

In this work, a cylindrical part with the concave bottom is manufactured by the forming process of reverse pulsating hydrodynamic deep drawing. The finite element simulation is used to obtain the thickness distribution and investigate the complex deformation behaviour of the part. The effect of loading path on the part profile and the wall thickness variation of the part is studied during the whole forming process. The concave bottom height and thickness distribution by reverse pulsating hydrodynamic deep drawing are compared with the traditional hydrodynamic deep drawing process. The result shows that the concave bottom height and the minimum thickness of the cylindrical part could be increased by 51.7% and 104%, respectively. The material in the flange could be significantly shifted to the concave bottom of the cylindrical part by the reverse pulsating hydrodynamic deep drawing. Therefore, the value of thickness reduction could be increased at the easily ruptured position, to obtain high the concave bottom of cylindrical part.
