Dielectric response characterization of in vivo skin areas using a handheld THZ probe

In this work we demonstrate the development and testing of a robust handheld system able to characterize the dielectric properties of in vivo skin on different part of the body, cheeks, temple, forehead, upper arms and volar forearms. This system demonstrates to be robust against misalignments while keeping an acceptable weight comfortable for the operator. This portable system has potential for the diagnosis of dry skin or skin cancer in hospitals, being a valuable tool to complement current methods of diagnosis and detection.
