A Study of the Usability of Monolithically Integrated Photonic Oscillators for Wireless Millimeter Wave and Terahertz Communication

In this paper, we present a wireless link at 50 GHz, which is driven by two free-running monolithically integrated mode-locked laser diodes (MLLD). The experimental data is validated by a model which is based on two first order auto regressive processes. The modeled power spectrum as well as the probability density function fit very well to the measured data. This allows an assessment of the limitations of the system for future data transmission.
