Enhanced breadth first search-based routing in wireless sensor networks

A wireless sensor network WSN is one of the most fundamental wireless communication models. In this paper, we deal with an energy-aware routing based on a breadth first search BFS in a WSN. Preliminary experiments have shown that such BFS-based routing provides no remarkable result. This paper aims at its enhancement. First, we define throughput for each transmission range. To improve it, we propose the next hop change procedures and a lower energy node relay avoidance. Simulation experiments show that such enhancement improves throughput as well as the first death node time to some extent.
