Verification of plants growth promoting effect using natural sunlight spectrum LED

Recently, several types of LED lighting have been becoming widespread in our lives. On the other hand, the light we feel most comfortable with is natural light. Thus, natural spectrum LED has become a focus in various settings. In our laboratory, an aquaponics system has been developed for sustainable food production. Aquaponics is defined as a combination of hydroponics and aquaculture. It is an environmentally friendly food production technology and can grow fish and plants together. Furthermore, water is continuously recirculated through this system as in the natural world. The purpose of this study is to construct an aquaponics system using natural sunlight spectrum LED to increase the growth rates of plants and fishes. An experiment is conducted to compare LED with conventional white light LED. Average weight and area for leaf lettuce are increased about 9% and 10%, respectively.
