Grid-Tied Single Phase Bidirectional H6 Inverter

Inverters with bidirectional capability has become a future trend in single phase grid-tied dc bus systems inorder to minimize the cost, design constraints and even will support many AC as well as DC sources. These inverters can also be used with PV grid-tied systems. Among this, transformerless type inverters plays an important role because of its less weight, low cost and high efficiency. Classic transformerless inverters like H4, H5, HERIC, H6 with recently reviewed modulation techniques do not revealed bidirectional power flow capability. Therefore, selected H6 inverter topology with improved hybrid modulation modifies the inverter features to both inverter as well as rectifier. In both inverter and rectifier modes of operation, this inverter achieves an excellent three level differential mode voltage and also leakage current issue is eliminated. Peturb and Observe (P&O) MPPT algorithm is used to track maximum power from the PV array. To analyse the performance of the system, entire system is simulated with 4 kW PV panel and ensures the effectiveness of H6 inverter with HERIC inverter.
