Interband Cascade Lasers with Optimized Waveguide Design for High Power Operation

Fabry-Pérot interband cascade laser with varied thickness of the separate confinement layers and reduced cladding layer thickness are presented. An epi-side-down mounted device showed a cw-output power of 505mW emitting at λ≈3.3 µm at 10°C.
