Gait Recognition of Human Walking thru Gait Analysis

Gait recognition is one kind of biometric technology that can be used to monitor people without their cooperation. It is visually-based system that uses Microsoft Kinect sensor to analyze movements. Each individual's walking speed, style and skeleton structure will make those parameters a little differently from other individuals. The result is a kind of composite signature that characterizes the overall feel of their walk. Researches take advantage of Microsoft Kinect to get the information from the position of joints for recognition. This study focuses on the bones and joints based on Microsoft Kinect skeleton joints orientation. The system is for person identification. It offers the possibility to recognize and identify movement patterns of a person. It is an emergent biometric aimed essentially to recognize people by the way they walk. The advantages of this system are that it can detect obscured and, it is non-invasive. Essentially, computer vision can patently find people and to extract a gait signature dissimilarity from an individual. The results by these investigations believed that there is a prosperous potential for gait recognition. Only sustained maturation in technique and in investigation will confirm whether its performance can match that of other biometrics.
