Simulation and Experimental Investigation on Space-Particle Trapping Efficiency of Discharge Plasma and Electrostatic Field

In view of the threats of space-particles in space environment entering the space station during astronauts’ extra vehicular activity on orbit, a method of charging space-particle through plasma environment and trapping it by electrostatic field is studied. The charging mechanism and trapping mechanism of space-particle are analyzed. Deutsch trapping efficiency model is introduced to simulate and design the key structural parameters and excitation voltage, which affect the trapping efficiency of Electrostatic Field Precipitator (EFP). The parameter design of EFP module is determined, and the trapping efficiency of EFP module is verified by experiments.
