Reference less Far-field Radiation Measurement System for Vehicle EMC Based on Software-Defined Radio

Power converters are one of the main sources of electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the automobile industry. Fast switching of the power converter over the high frequencies will always result in severe electromagnetic interference. A low-cost testing system for measuring the EMC far-field electromagnetic radiation in this study was proposed. The approach employed here employs a low cost receiver to obtain information about the signal's amplitude and phase. A near-field to far-field transformation is then used to assess far-field radiation after the amplitude and phase have been determined. The boost-buck converter measuring results prove the validity of the proposed method.
