Ultra-Wideband 3D Tapered Aperture Antenna -3D Vivaldi Antenna

A design concept for an ultra-wideband 3D tapered aperture antenna is proposed in this paper. The antenna is designed for ultra-wideband applications close to 20:1 bandwidth. It has a relatively high gain values (vary from 3dBi to 13dBi) over the same bandwidth. The cross polarization is more than 60dB below the co-polarization along the aperture. in opposite direction to create 3D tapered aperture. The simulated results regrading return loss, gain, and far field are presented. Ongoing study is focused towards optimizing the aperture to increase the gain value at lower frequency band while maintaining the gain value at mid and high frequency band.
