Modeling and simulation of bioinspired helical nano-antennas

This work proposes helical antenna models inspired by biological structures. Single turn bifilar helical antenna is modeled from diameter and pitch of A-DNA and Z-DNA, while 310-helix and π-helix (protein structures) are used to model single turn monofilar helical antenna. The far-field of all the four structures are analyzed in Ansys High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). Radiation patterns, gains, and circular polarization are compared when simulated at six different wavelengths. The effect of conformational change (right-handed to left-handed) in monofilar helical antenna is also analyzed.
