Design of Low-Loss Printed Ridge-Gap-Waveguide Crossover for Millimeter-Wave Applications

A low-loss 0-dB crossover for millimeter-wave (mm-wave) beam-switching network applications is designed in this paper. It is mainly composed of two cascaded 3-dB hybrid couplers based on printed ridge gap waveguide (PRGW) technology operating on the quasi-TEM mode. The proposed crossover can be considered a good candidate to develop feeding beam-forming antenna systems designated for future 5G and 6G applications. The simulated results show that the designed crossover achieves better than -10 dB for both return loss and isolation. The insertion loss is about -0.5±0.1 dB over the whole operating bandwidth from 26.5 to 29.5 GHz.
