Array Scanning Method-Macro Basis Function for Connected Arrays of Printed Antennas

We present a fast finite array analysis technique based on the Infinite Array solution. The developed technique is the extension of the Array Scanning Method-Macro Basis Function (ASM-MBF) approach to the layered medium, applicable to antennas that are printed on a substrate backed by a ground plane. This method has been validated for the connected array case for which other types of MBF methods require specific treatment and have practical difficulties. Results are validated for the port currents in a large connected antenna array.
