Simulation Analysis of a Broadband High-Gain Omnidirectional Printed Antenna for Mobile Communications

A wide-band high-gain omnidirectional printed antenna model, which can realize antenna multiplexing of multiple mobile communication bands, is proposed in this paper. The antenna is composed of two sub-arrays and two types of antenna structures. It operates from 1.46 GHz to 2.35 GHz, and the horizontal omnidirectional gain is 4.9 dBi and 3.6 dBi at 1.75 GHz and 1.8 GHz, which are two typical mobile communication frequencies of the internal digital cellular system (1710 MHz-1880 MHz). The out-of-roundness on the xoy plane is less than 3 dB. An equivalent current radiation model is used to analyze the radiation mechanism. The proposed antenna has the characteristics of wide bandwidth, high gain, and good omnidirectivity. It can be printed on a circuit board, and widely used in mobile communication equipment terminals.
