Comparative Study of Conformal Hybrid HIS based Antennas Performance in 5G band

A low profile hybrid mushroom antenna (Hybrid-HIS) has been presented for the 5G and Wi-Fi system. The HHIS antenna design of overlapped 2x2 array of 4 element Unit Cells with corner and center elements shorted to reduce the mutual coupling by making elements exclusive. The HHIS is then conformed and its response variation is analyzed for its usage as a conformal element. The Conformed antenna array has response drop of 12.5% and 37.5% from the Planar antenna for radius of curvature, r=100 mm and r= 50 mm, respectively. The 2 modes are observed at different frequencies but close enough to contribute into more bandwidth and the difference in response due to curvature is more evident away from the two mentioned modes.
