Fast Solution of Volume Integral Equations with Dielectric-Magnetic Media

Some materials like mineral substances are both dielectric and magnetic and also may be fully inhomogeneous in nature, and full volume integral equations (VIEs) are needed to describe their interaction with electromagnetic (EM) wave in the integral equation approach. When the problem is large, a fast algorithm is needed to accelerate the solution of VIEs. To simplify and speed up numerical solutions, the Nyström method is used to discretize the VIEs and then the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) is incorporated to accelerate. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the approach and good results have been achieved.
