IoT based Driver Assist System with Application of OpenCV and Python

Nowadays, considerable number of road accidents are being reported worldwide. Every individual has to be very cautious while they are travelling irrespective of the mode of transportation. Accidents can never be avoided, especially nowadays road accidents are increasing in number day by day. There are a couple of factors which contribute to road accidents which includes speeding, drunken driving, weariness, and some other factors also contribute to the same. Safety is the first and foremost concern in everything. Whether its driver’s or passengers’ safety both matters. The major cause for vehicle crash is drowsiness or Fatigue of the driver. To get away from this, there is a great need for a Fatigue detection system, which is necessary to alert the driver if the person seems to be detected with drowsiness or any of the slight signs. The seriousness of accidents can be controlled to some extent if the vehicle’s safety features are taken into deepest concern. This work comes up with a proposed method for detecting accidents and safety of the passengers throughout the journey. The tools which are used to implement this work includes OpenCV and python. Adding to that, detection of sunglasses is done using algorithms including Haar Cascades. This proposed work comes forward with face and Fatigue detection along with pedestrian and detection.
