Crop Water Stress Identification and Estimation: A Review

Water stress in plants is due to water deficiency probably caused by soil salinity and drought. Water stress in crops leads to loss in agricultural production that results in food shortage. Crop water stress index (CWSI) changes with respect to temperature, humidity, soil moisture, vapour pressure deficit(VPD), wind speed etc., Various environmental factors also need to be considered for crop water stress identification. Our paper reviews, on various effects, responses of water stress and methods used for Crop Water Stress Index identification for sustainable agriculture.
