Evaluation of Ship Magnetic Protection Capability Based on Monte Carlo Simulation and Comprehensive Empowerment

To accurately evaluate the magnetic protection capability of ships, an evaluation method is proposed that combines Monte Carlo simulations and comprehensive empowerment. In addition, aiming at the problem that the index weight of ships’ magnetic protection capability is highly subjective and rarely considers the objectivity of index data, a comprehensive weighting method is used. This comprehensive weighting method combines subjective and objective weights into comprehensive weights through the minimum deviation and difference coefficient methods. The subjective weights are obtained by qualitative analysis and quantitative judgments of the index through the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The objective weights are obtained based on the correlation and variability of the indicator data using the criteria importance through intercrieria correlation (CRITIC). Moreover, Monte Carlo simulations are used to conduct many virtual confrontations between ships and magnetic mines using the known ship magnetic field and mine deployment parameters. Then, the probability that a ship triggers a mine explosion under different confrontation conditions is obtained and combined with the comprehensive weights to evaluate the magnetic protection ability of the ship. Evaluation experiments of the magnetic protection capability of the ship’s magnetic model are performed to verify that the proposed method is more scientific and reasonable compared with traditional methods. The results show that the proposed method provides great reference value to evaluate ships’ magnetic protection abilities and improved magnetic stealth abilities.
