Optimal Configuration Method of Series Reactance of Shunt Capacitor Based on PSO

The determination of the total capacity of shunt capacitors and the configuration of series reactance parameters directly affect the economy of power system operation. A method to calculate the total compensation capacity of capacitor bank is presented, which is by calculating the reactive power loss of transmission line, transformer and the compensation capacity required to increase the power factor to the specified parameters. The optimal configuration model of series reactance based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) is established with the minimum total current distortion rate on the high voltage side as the optimization objective and the safe working current and safe working voltage of the capacitor as the constraints. The effectiveness of the optimization method is verified by comparing with the traditional reactance rate selection method.
