Data Science for Healthcare via an E-Learning Statistics Platform

In this three-hour tutorial, participants will learn how to use the ISLE e-learning platform to deliver health informatics and analytics instruction. ISLE is an open-source e-learning platform that allows students and professionals to explore data and concepts interactively without coding. The platform has been used for multiple years for both statistics instruction and a variety of other subjects including the humanities and criminology. In a live demonstration with voluntary audience participation, we will showcase an interactive e-learning lesson developed as an in-class activity for a Health Information Systems class at Carnegie Mellon University on some of the methods that are commonly used in the fields of data science and statistics, including logistic regression, clustering methods, random forests, and optimization as they pertain to healthcare analytics.
