Numerical and Experimental Evaluation of a Textile Wearable Antenna for On-body Communications

This paper presents the results from investigation of the parameters and characteristics of a fully textile wearable antenna with a shielding element in its structure for on-body wireless communication. Numerical simulations and experimental measurements of S-parameters were performed in the frequency range of 2.3 to 2.6 GHz for line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight scenarios using a homogeneous flat phantom. Specific absorption rate (SAR) generated by the fully textile wearable antenna is also assessed, and SAR distributions in several planes are presented.
