Study of Zeolitic Molecular Sieves for the Treatment of Transformer Oils

As the insulation system is the critical element of any transformer, the authors’ intention is to build an online drying facility based on the use of zeolite molecular sieves, which can perform a continuous drying of the insulating liquid of the transformer during its operation. In this context, the paper presents the results of the research prior to the design of the installation. This research refers to the investigations carried out on three types of mineral transformer oils under different states of degradation and humidity, using two types of zeolite molecular sieves for dehumidification. The experimental results obtained allowed, on the one hand, to determine the influence of zeolite on the monitored state parameters, and, on the other hand, to establish the zeolite molecular sieve with the highest efficiency in improving the values of these parameters.
