Application of X-ray computed tomography in circuit module failure analysis

X-ray computed tomography has been applied to failure analysis to improve the efficiency. Based on the basic principles of X-ray computed tomography and the failure analysis method of circuit module, the applications of X-ray computed tomography in circuit module failure analysis were studied via structural analysis, layout reverse drawing, and failure points location. The results indicated that the structure of circuit module could be analyzed and the layout could be reversed without damaging based on X-ray computed tomography. Based on the above results, the key components inside the circuit module could be obtained and could be focused on the abnormal points.
