Performance evaluation of a battery-inverter-load system in a laboratory environment

Battery-inverter-load systems are one of the energy solutions for communities in rural areas. Therefore, a performance assessment of those systems can help communities in their selection and operation. The experimental performance evaluation of a battery-inverter-load system in a laboratory is presented in this paper. The system was composed with industrial and commercial equipment in order to observe a close behavior of systems used by rural communities. The laboratory environment allows to use several measurement instruments that are not available in most rural houses. Among other situations, the experimental results show that battery voltage can reduce close to the undervoltage protection value of the inverter, operating the system close to a disconnection instant.
