Localization of Fresh and Old Fracture in Spine CT Images Using YOLOR

Vertebral compression fractures caused by osteoporosis are one of the causes of pain and disability in the elderly. Early detection and treatment are important. Although MRI images can effectively diagnose symptoms, but require high diagnostic costs. CT images have a lower diagnostic cost than MRI, but are not as accurate as MRI in detecting vertebral fractures. This paper proposed a YOLO-based target detection method to localize old and fresh fractures on spine CT images, to achieve the purpose of fast and accurate, and to provide good advice and reference for physicians. Experimental results show that the proposed multi-backbone ensemble method achieves an accuracy of 87.8%, which is better than the 82% of basic YOLOR.
