Observer-Based Output Feedback Control of Nonlinear 2-D Systems via Fuzzy-Affine Models

Through Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy-affine models, the observer-based output feedback control (OFC) of discrete-time nonlinear 2-D systems is investigated, where the 2-D system information evolves dynamically along two independent directions. A piecewise fuzzy-affine observer is designed to estimate the unmeasurable system states, and two enhanced observer-based piecewise OFC approaches are then developed. By making sufficient use of Young’s matrix inequality with its variant, novel and less conservative observer-based piecewise output feedback controller design results are proposed via piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions (PQLFs). Simulation studies on a doubly indexed nonlinear process are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed approaches.
