A Mixer-First Receiver Frontend with Dual-Feedback Baseband Achieving >300 MHz IF Bandwidth in 65 nm CMOS

A dual-feedback-baseband and mixer-first analog frontend circuit is recommended, in this paper. Both positive capacitive and negative resistive feedback paths are implemented for single-stage OTA using a compact inverter with reduced poles, to fulfill a wide baseband coverage. An RF N-path filtering and second-order baseband filtering effectively, enable blocker resilience falling into the outskirt of the passband. The presented analog frontend circuit was devised with TSMC 65 nm commercial CMOS process. simulation results have shown a maximal NF=2.1 dB within a wide IF coverage, and 33 dB peak gain over the 1~3 GHz LO variation range. Moreover, the IB and OOB IIP3 linearity takes -13 dBm and 18 dBm, separately. The receiver circuit consumes 30 mW, typically.
