The Performance and Comparision of Turbulence Compensation between Adaptive Optics with and without WFS under Dynamic Turbulence

Adaptive optics technology (AO) is an effective way to reduce the influence of atmospheric turbulence in free-space optical communication (FSOC). We compared traditional AO with wavefront sensor (WFS-AO) with AO in SPGD algorithm without WFS (WFSless-SPGD AO) under a horizontal link under dynamic turbulence. While WFSless-SPGD AO is limited by iteration time, traditional WFS-AO is governed by WFS noise. Under respective restrictions, we compare the two methods and give out the difference which can lead us to choose a better way for given scene.
