Hybrid Array Configurations to Reduce Mismatch Loss of a PV Array under Partial Shading Conditions

Partial shading condition (PSC) is regular phenomena in PV system, in which some sections of PV modules in an array are partly covered owing to the large building, moving clouds, dirt or big trees. The partial shading effect is limiting the array's power output and exhibits multiple peaks on the Power-Voltage (P-V) & Current-Voltage (I-V) characteristics. As a result, raises the power losses and decreases the array's performance. Suitable arrangement of the PV array configurations is one of the strategies for lowering the power losses. The primary goal of this paper is to provide unique hybrid PV array configuration arrangement, in which the benefits of conventional configurations have been combined. The hybrid PV array topologies which are presented in this paper are Series Parallel-Total Cross Tied (SPTCT), Honey Comb- Total Cross Tied (HCTCT), Bridge Linked- Total Cross Tied (BLTCT). The performance of the PV array topologies is evaluated in terms of maximum power generation, mismatch loss, fill factor by considering five distinct PSCs.
