A modified DE algorithm Based Solution for Dynamic OPF Problem for Ensuring Security of Power Grids

Wind power generates a significant amount of electricity, which benefits the environment, energy security, and rising fuel costs. As a result, integrating wind-based energy generation with dwindling fossil-fuel generation and volatile energy demand poses significant operational and security challenges for modern power systems. In this article, the Wind and Flexible Resources (FRs) are included in the proposed “Expected Security Cost with Dynamic Optimal Power Flow (ESCDOPF)” model. To solve the proposed model for the total expected operating cost of the system, including contingency costs, over the course of a day using a “Modified Differential Evolution (MDE)” algorithm. For optimal wind energy generation scheduling, the Weibull probability distribution function (PDF). Demand response, battery energy storage systems, and HVDC systems are modelled to ensure that the supply-demand portfolio is always maintained. Various test cases are run on a modified IEEE 30 bus system to validate the robustness of the proposed MDE algorithm.
