A Novel Multi-Objective based Optimal Reconfiguration of A Distribution Network by A Closed Switch Heuristic Method

The increased infusion of non-linear devices, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) into the Smart Grid system has resulted in network imbalance, increased power loss, and decreased power stability. This, in turn, reduces the power system's resilience and reliability. As a result, a mechanism to tackle this problem is required. Due to the volatility of demand creation, network balancing is essential to prevent network imbalance. To counteract these impacts, several researchers have applied various optimization strategies. Reconfiguration is one of the cheapest methods to implement to nullify these above-mentioned effects. This paper aims to understand one of such methods using a Multi-Objective Function. Additionally, the importance of THD while reconfiguring the Grid is discussed. An IEEE 33 bus network is taken for the study in this paper.
