Study on Heat Dissipation System of Liquid-cooled Lithium Battery Pack Based on Phase Change Materials

Battery thermal management system has always been one of the important factors restricting the development of electric vehicles. Under the condition that the traditional way of heat dissipation can no longer meet the actual needs, it is highly significant to put forward a new way of heat dissipation. Based on phase change materials, this paper takes the thermal management of liquid-cooled lithium batteries as an example to carry out related experiments and simulations. Use paraffin as phase change material, establish a geometric model, heat transfer simulation using COMSOL software. And according to the simulation results, it is concluded that the influence of various factors influences the battery cooling degree and the way. The experimental results show that the cooling range is proportional to the flow rate of the condensate. The initial temperature difference between the battery and the phase change material is proportional to the initial temperature difference. When the initial temperature difference between the two reaches 55 °C, the cooling range can achieve 10.94%; Affected by the degree of battery density is not obvious. The discovery after further calculation that the initial temperature of the battery pack is the most sensitive factor affecting the heat dissipation effect, and the condensate flow rate on the final effect is the least sensitive.
