Throughput and Delay Considerations of UAV Assisted Vehicular Wireless Networks

Communication technologies based on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV s) are constantly evolving and look forward to gradually improve within the close future. Traditional communication systems require complex and expensive infrastructure with lengthy installation procedures, while a UAV aided wireless communication systems guarantees to return affordable wireless connection to the devices without the need for bulky infrastructure installation. Wireless communication systems incorporated with low-altitude UAV s are quicker to deploy, highly mobile, can be regularly and effortlessly re-configured, and presumably, are certain to have better communication channels with shorter range line-of-sight (LOS) connectivity than High Altitude Platforms (HAPs, such as a hot air balloon) or terrestrial systems. This research work considers a drone-to-vehicle communication scenario to review the influence of channel parameters (such as path loss, signal-to-noise ratio, delay, and throughput) on air-to-ground communications. To research these parameters intimately, we collect mathematical framework used on Air-to-Ground (A2G) wireless communications from preceding research studies and we confirm our analytical work against the MATLAB simulations.
