Design and Implementation of A New Approach High Power Optical Inferred Transmitter For A LIDAR UAV Detection

Recently, the important role of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in military operations and reconnaissance has emerged. These UAS have different sizes and shapes depending on the task assigned to them. The UAS operates with engines that have a low heat signature. Therefore, passive thermal cameras are difficult to detect. For this reason, this work will organize a promising electro-optical transmitter containing a non-coherent source, namely a krypton arc lamp. It is a 1200-watt KAL. It operates in the wavelength range from 800 nm to 850 nm and has a unique design consisting of 9 lenses in order to enable the noncoherent source to be directed with a 20-degree field of view (FOV). It’s enough to detect a UAS up to 2 km away. In order to operate in the areas of direct attack between the UAS and the target area, the lenses are also coated with a coating that reduces the thermal effect of the light source. A thermal imaging token was made for each lens after the light source’s rays had passed, to ensure that it didn’t affect the material lenses after coating. The proposed electro-optical system achieves an optimal solution to cover the dead zone radars that work at x-band frequencies.
