Towards the Design of Layered SH-SAW Resonators with Inherent Transverse Mode Suppression

In this work we present a multilayer SAW resonator topology that enables the design of spurious free SAW resonators in multiple frequency bands, while employing the same composite base substrate. Here we specifically address the design of SAW resonators with vertical in-plane dispersion and demonstrate their ability to achieve transverse mode suppression through operating in a native piston mode regime.
