Effect Temperature on Dielectric Strength of Transformer Oil With Nanoparticle SiO2 and CCl4

The continuity of the transformer is very dependent on the isolation system. As one of the main insulations found in transformers, insulating oil must have and maintain good dielectric strength. Along with use, essential oil quality care is to be carried out. However, maintenance processes such as cleaning or replacement are ineffective because one transformer contains tens of tons of oil. So we need an alternative way to overcome this. Based on the above problems, this study added SiO2 and CCl4 nanoparticles to overcome this problem. This research was conducted on oil samples in Isovoltine II, Shell Diala B, and Apar were tested using the IEC 156 test method. The oil with the addition of SiO2 and CCl4 nanoparticles was tested at a temperature range of 60 – 110° C and proved that the addition of SiO2 nanoparticles with a mass fraction of 0.02% into the oil could increase the dielectric strength with an average increase of 14.1% at room temperature. Meanwhile, the addition of CCl4 with a concentration of 200 ppm into the oil was able to increase the dielectric strength with an average increase of up to 9.66% at room temperature. The temperature in Apar oil with the addition of SiO2 and CCl4 nanoparticles is directly proportional to the increase in dielectric strength even when it reaches a temperature of 110° C. So based on the dielectric strength value obtained, SiO2 and CCl4 nanoparticles deserve to be considered an alternative way to increase the strength value insulating oil dielectric.
