Comparative Analysis of Soft Biological Tissue Ablation Characteristics Obtained by Electromagnetic Radiation of HF and UHF Ranges

Experimental research results on utilization of electromagnetic high frequency range radiation energy for soft biological tissue ablation are considered. Comparative analysis of ablation carried out by UHF (MWA) and HF electromagnetic radiation is presented. It has been revealed experimentally that the characteristics of both ablation methods are close to each other. The ablation quality does not deteriorate when switching from MWA ablation to HF ablation. We proposed and experimentally examined techniques for HF ablation in both non-invasive and invasive treatment. According to the techniques the HF ablation of biological tissues can be implemented in a non-invasive way by scanning of a biological tissue specimen surface with the velocities not less than $1,5 \cdot 10^{-2} m/s$, and in a invasive way by puncture a specimen by the irradiator made of sharpened needle (medical steel) to the depths from 1.5 mm to 15 mm and more with a well controlled necrosis area. It is shown that application of high frequency electromagnetic field can be used in practice for purposes of biological tissue medical ablation.
