Edge Detection of Images using Prewitt Algorithm Comparing with Sobel Algorithm to Improve Accuracy

The object of the study is to detect the edges in images using the prewitt and comparing with the sobel analysis method to improve accuracy. Materials and Methods: To determine the accuracy in detecting the edges of an image dataset of images are chosen as 2 groups, each group with 20 samples respectively which are collected using a Matlab simulation tool and subjected to filters to remove noisy data. The illustration size of two groups is intended using G power with pretest power of 80% with ∝=0.05. Result: Prewitt has a mean accuracy of 85% in edge detection and Sobel has a mean accuracy of 71% achieved significant accuracy (P<0.05). Conclusion: For the given images, proposed prewitt algorithm performs significantly better compared to sobel algorithm.
